Instagram gets crispier,faster with its new update.

Instagram has updated its Android app, making it faster,crisp and more responsive. Instagram has decreased the overall app size by almost half to increase the speed and now the  profile screen loads faster.

Adding to the new design, Instagram update also brings in simplified visuals, allowing its users to have some more screen space, which is actually useful for devices and feature phones.

Instagram has also rearranged design to keep its buttons within easy reach of its users using their app on tablets and Chromebooks.

Instagram for Android version 5.1 is available for download via Google Play Store.This update comes to the Android version soon after Instagram added a new slider for its ‘Lux’ enhancement tool. The new feature allows iOS users to tweak in the intensity of the effects, which is quite similar to other photo editing apps such as Snapseed.

QuizUp, the hit trivia game that was introduced on iOS in November 2013, has now been launched for Android platform, and is now available for free on the Google Play store.

Nokia X launch, specs and price

Nokia showcased Nokia X at MWC 2014 few weeks earlier, its first ever smartphone to be build on Android operating system. Nokia X is a part of Nokia's new line of android smartphones which includes Nokia X, Nokia XL and Nokia X+. While the Nokia X is already launched in some countries it is set to be launch next in India on march 10.

As the per the news reports the smartphone will go on sale from march 15 onwards. The official pricing has not been revealed yet ,though it is expected to be priced around 8500 Rupees.

The device comes with dual sim(GSM+GSM) functionality and sports a 4-inch IPS  LCD display with a resolution of 480x800. The Nokia X is packed with a Qualcomm 8225 Snapdragon 1Ghz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM, 3 MP rear camera and doesn't feature front camera.
It comes with a 4 GB of inbuilt storage which is expendable up to 32 GB via microSD card.

Windows Phone 8.1(BLUE) Leaked Screenshots/Features

For all you guys who like me hang off every piece of update from Windows sphere, you’ll be glad to know  that some upcoming features about the next update to Windows Phone are leaked.  Windows Phone 8.1 (codename ‘Blue’) is the next major update to the Windows Phone platform. While it is being anticipated that the OS will be officially unveiled at Microsoft’s BUILD conference in April, Microsoft have secretly made available a new SDK for some premium developers. Even though the developers had to sign in for a non disclosable agreement, features of this new OS have already came out onto the internet – probably on Reddit.

Some of the features include, the renaming of skydrive to onedrive across the OS, swipe down on the multitasking page to close background apps, a new revamped HTML5 YouTube player which now plays inside your browser, Virtual Private Networks (VPN) can be easily configured and the ability to save applications onto the SD card.

It is interesting to note that some rumoured major features like the voice assistant called Cortana, a Siri-like feature and a new Action Centre, a notification centre is missing from this build. In fact, almost all Bing features are either removed or are not working which shows Microsoft are trying to keep the major features behind the curtain.

GOOGLE Doodle celebrates India's 65th Republic Day

Google today participated in cerebrating India's 65th Republic Day with a doodle in which daredevil motorcyclists, representing a unit of the security forces making a pyramid over their bikes,this has been painted in the tri-colors to match with the Indian national flag.

The team of riders shown in the doodle are the part Indian Army’s ‘Dare Devils corp, They are famous for performing stunts and parading at some of the big events like Republic Day Parade, the Army Day Parade, the ASIAD, the SAF and the Afro-Asian Games. The team has bagged many world records to its credit, one of which is the “Largest Human Pyramid” consisting of 251 men on only 11 motorcycles.

Today is indeed a day of celebrations for all INDIANS, and we wish all our fellow readers a Happy Republic Day.

Facebook app for Android (Alpha build) sports a new look.

In October last year, Facebook announced that it will offer a new “Facebook Alpha program” for users who want to try out some of the new features using the Facebook’s Android app. Now Facebook 7.0.0.27 alpha build has arrived, bringing with it a decent user interface.

While the changes are not that big, the new UI is cleaner and more attractive than earlier versions of the app.

Facebook previously made it clear that some of the new alpha features would “come and go” so there is no guarantee that the new UI will make it to the stable release.

If they do decide to move forward with this new look,then it will first hit the beta build of the app and then, maybe later, the UI will come to the stable version of Facebook app. In other words, we wouldn’t expect to see this new user interface to officially roll out anytime soon.

Moto G coming to India on last week of January.

Motorola officials have confirmed that its budget Android smartphone Moto G will be released in India around January last week during CES which ended recently. The company is yet to disclose the price of the device. Though it is expected to be around 15-16k.
It is available at 16499(INR) on ebay india's website.

With the release of this phone, the company will be making its comeback in the sub-continent region after a hiatus of close eight months. It had even closed down the official Indian website in November last year soon after it was bought by  Google. Motorola is said to sell Moto G through a distributor partner.

The Motorola Moto G flaunts a 4.5 inch IPS-LCD touchscreen with 1280x720 pixels (high definition) resolution. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The 11.6 mm thick Moto G will run ANDROID 4.4 KITKAT OS out of the box, 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core processor, Adreno 305 GPU, and 1 GB RAM. The phone comes in 8 GB and 16 GB internal storage variants but has no seperate micro SD card slot.
It sports a 5 MP camera at the back and has a 1.3 megapixel front camera. It also comes with a good battery backup with 2070 mAh battery. This single SIM (micro SIM) based smartphone measures 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6 mm and weighs around 143 grams.

In the US, the unlocked variant of Moto G models are priced $179 (around ₹11,300) for 8GB and $199 (around ₹12,250) for 16GB. This device is expected to cost a little more, taking into account the custom duty charges as well as foreign exchange rate.

Can Micromax users update to Android 4.4 KITKAT?

The market share of Android smartphones is booming in every aspect every other day a new android device is being launched with new versions of the operating systems running on the hardware, now according to a recent report Micromax is reportedly working on  the release of Android 4.4 KitKat update for a number of Canvas handsets.

Micromax has been earlier busy adding to its Canvas range of smartphones recently and now a source has leaked some information that makes it vaguely clear that some of them are about to be treated to the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
These include both budget and high end devices featuring the likes of the Micromax Canvas 4, Micromax A250 Canvas Turbo, A110 Canvas 2, A111 Canvas Doodle, A116 Canvas HD, A117 Canvas Magnus, A240 Canvas Doodle 2, A116i Canvas HD, A114 Canvas 2.2, and the A110Q Canvas 2 Plus.

Unfortunately there is no information as of now that when exactly these updates will begin rolling out to canvas users, but the source can't be trusted exactly as it was earlier declared that 4.3 updste will also roll out but later its devlopment was discontinued so we just hope that Kitkat can see light of day and all of us can use it on our very own devices.

Of course this information still has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt until the manufacturer comes out with some press release.

HP to revisit the smartphone market with the launch of Slate 6 phablet and Slate 7 VoiceTab in India

Three years after HP pulled the plug on its WebOS-powered smartphone line, the PC giant  re-enters the game with a bang. Its two new devices launching today in India.
Yes heard it right INDIA.

These phablets are of 6-inch and 7-inch respectively, the Slate 6 and Slate 7 VoiceTab they are quite similar to tablets. HP is hoping to capture the attention of its customers looking for all-in-one devices segment, a category that’s seeing a rapid growth in emerging markets like India. In fact, the Slate 7 VoiceTab appears to be a cell-enabled version of the Slate 7, a cheap variant of a Tablet that HP announced at MWC 2013 and shipped last summer.

Talking about specs both have 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for the 32 GB of additional storage. The display is 1280 x 720 on the 6-inch model while 1280 x 800 on the 7-inch model. The front-facing camera is 2MP, the rear camera is 5MP, and will run ANDROID "Jelly Bean." 4.2 with some modification from HP's side.

HP has not yet revealed any update on the price of the new Slate 6 and Slate 7 VoiceTab, but going by the spec sheets and the target customers, they should come in a mid range price bracket. The devices will become available from this February in India, but HP has refused to provide any more details on their eventual international availability as such.

“I won’t say where or when, but you can expect us to do more in the coming months,” an HP official told Re/code. “We’ll be talking about this in a more expansive way. But right now we’re focused on a successful launch in India.” The PC making giant presented these devices to retailers last week at CES, and  received great response.

Sony launched Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia E1 smartphones

Sony has come up with two new smartphones to cope up with increasing competition in the smartphone world, Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia E1. Both of the smartphones have been launched with dual sim versions too. However, the company has not yet announced the price and availability of the devices as of now.

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra sports a 720p 6-inch HD TRILUMINOS display combined with mobile Bravia engine 2 and features a 16,777,216-colour TFT screen. Powered the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.4GHz Quad Core processor and 1GB of RAM, comes with inbuilt storage of 8GB which is expendable up to 32GB and is equipped with 3,000 mAh of battery. It boasts of a 13MP rear camera with Exmor RS sensor and 1.1 MP of front facing camera with Exmor R technology. The rear camera is capable of recording 1080p full HD videos with pulsed LED flash, auto focus, burst mode and 16x digital zoom and other features such as Background defocus, Sweep Panorama, Collage, Timeshift burst and the selfie-friendly Portrait Retouch.

 It has connectivity features like aGPS, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, USB tethering, NFC, USB High speed 2.0 and Micro USB support, Wi-Fi and WiFi hotspot.


 On the other hand Xperia E1 is a lower mid ranged phone and sports a 4-inch WVGA TFT display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, Snapdragon 200 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB Inbuilt storage which is expendable upto 32GB and a 3MP rear camera.
 "Xperia E1 combines the best of Sony's audio technologies with a premium design and great hardware to create a smartphone for people who want to express themselves out loud," Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing at Sony Mobile Communications, said in a statement. "It's a new, music focused player in our Xperia lineup that is underpinned by the best of Sony's design, display and content offers.
As a music centric smartphone it comes with  100Db speaker and ClearAudio+ mode and xLOUD for louder and enhanced sound output and a 30 day pass for Sony Entertainment Network store.

NOKIA Normandy (RM-980 A110) still under devlopment, running Android 4.4 KitKat.

While Nokia still hasn't revealed any plans yet for its rumored Normandy budget Android phone, new leaked images do speculate to the existence of such a device.
 

Nokia's Normandy smartphone has been in the news from last couple of days. Though earlier reports had dismissed the rumors on this smartphone, latest updates suggest that the Finnish company is pushing to make their Android smartphone dream into reality.

Nokia's first Android phone, rumoured to be dubbed Normandy, might still be alive and could see light of the day soon, if Folks at serial leakster @evleaks  are to be believed.

Meanwhile, another report claims to have seen a mysterious smartphone, with firmware Nokia RM-980 A110 and believed to be the Normandy, on its benchmark website Antutu.pic (attached)

It would be interesting to see if Nokia can release this rumored Android device ahead of its completion of  Microsoft deal. Especially taking in consideration the signing of this pact, as Nokia can't use its branding for use in connection with mobile device sales nor use the brand on its own mobile devices for a particular period.

Prior to this, another leak shows the Normandy device in various colours.

And recently many updates on  Chinese microblogging website Sino Weibo, gave a deeper insight Nokia RM-980 A110 (aka Normandy) is expected to feature a 4-inch capacitive display like there lumia devices with 480 x 854 resolution and runs on Android 4.4.1 KitKat OS. Other stipulated features include Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and 5 MP rear camera.

The details on the launch date and availability of  Nokia's first ever Android smartphone is still scarce. However, if some media reports are to be believed, the phone is being developed in "full steam" and is likely come in market by June.

Daddy Was A Thief' Review - A Decent Little Time Killer

"Daddy Was a Thief is a cute endless platformer, a casual game which is no less than Subway Surfer"

An unhappy end for a Dad down on his luck who goes to extraordinary lengths to provide basic needs for his family. You play the role of Daddy who has just robbed a bank, and jumped to the adjacent building, and must escape through as many floors as possible(trust me it never ends). It's more or less like an elevator escape with no car escape at the bottom floor as u see in James Bond movies. Swiping down will make your way through the ground by crating a hole, while swiping up will jump... although you don't really need the jump unless there is a missile strike or u have to get in a Bath tub.

Every floor will either have a occupant (be they cop,or old lady), and piece of furniture,a bath tub which will accelerate you through couple of floors and destroy everything which comes on its way  or the shrink ray, which will shrink you the more you let the ray to fall on you the tinier you get and you have to double your efforts to make it through the floor to avoid the deadly stinger missiles being fired at the building in order to take you down.

As the game passes you will often find yourself getting stuck between objects, such as a refrigerator and a desk, or even against the level geometry itself. It is so bad in some instances that all you could do was wait for a missile to take you out. Like any other games some power ups are also available like UFO and rockets. Infact you have specific achievements like Subway Surfer and Temple Run which can only be unlocked using coins which you can earn by dashing into the furniture or jumping over the cops and the old granny.

At the end I would summarize with two cons :- 

• A really happy song to whistle along to when playing.
• Kind of a new take on Elevator Action.

Subway Surfer Mumbai

Subway Surfer,needless to say is an immensely entertaining game. It can keep you glued to your screen for hours all together.

Like most endless runner games, there's a almost the same plot to Subway Surfers. You run, trying to dodge capture and obstacles, swiping up to jump or down to slide. Swiping side to side lets you switch between tracks as you run. Along the way, players collect coins, which can be used for power-ups, but those same power-ups are also sprinkled along the tracks and you can even buy some through some in-app purchases.With time the pace of the game increases making it difficult to control your character.

We had shortlisted almost 20-30 odd domain names and at the end finalise tech zoot.By now you all will be wondering Tech is for technology fine.

but what the hell is zoot?To be frank I myself have no idea. I googled it just minutes before writing this post.

Zoot has many meanings it is just another internet slang meaning high,happy,cool,excited so here comes the name tech zoot and domain names are also available luckily.

With Google's hype over this year's Shopping festival has been proved just a let down for most of us.
The online festival has been started as an Indian version of Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
Though according to some leaks the deals which were associated with this festival was already hiked or almost no special discount was offered which was also a turn down.

Still being a geek I was curious and was waiting for 11th ever since I first saw some promo videos over youtube. So as the curiousity levels were all time high as the clock striked 00:00 I landed up over The official GOSF site, GOSF.in but the failure(Internal server error).

After around 15 minutes of server downtime, the site came up with this amazing countdown error (-1 days?)

This is not expected from a company which boasts about its engineering spirit.
Though being in this field I can understand the internal server issues but the countdown showing (-1) days.
Some people were even cracking jokes of Google being under influence of IRCTC.

This is really unprofessional and uncalled for.

Google Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat launched, coming soon to India at Rs. 28,999.

It's about time. The Google-backed and LG-manufactured Nexus 5 is now really a reality, after countless rumours and leaks and this time around it has mushroomed up on the Indian Play Store as well. The Nexus 5 has a lot of specs similar to the LG G2 a 2.2 Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 800 and 2GB of RAM, a 4.95-inch 1080p display. 

The new device, which predictably boasts the latest and greatest version of Android known as KitKat (or 4.4, if you're so inclined), takes its place in the spotlight in place of the Nexus 4.
